Colors
Lightness: Perfectly matches the lightest skin tones. In my experience, this color works for both cooler and warmer skin types.
Like Porcelain: Wonderful for fair skin types with rather rosy undertones. However, if you truly have a porcelain complexion (all you beautiful Snow Whites with dark hair out there), you're probably better off with Lightness.
Weightless: A great in-between shade for those for whom Like Porcelain is too rosy and Silken is too yellow-toned. A beautiful beige!
Silken: Just as light as Paper Thin, but has warm, yellowish undertones. So, all of you who tend to have cooler skin types, keep your hands off :-)
Ethereal: Suitable for fair skin with neutral undertones.
Paper Thin: The cooler sister to Silken and thus perfectly suited for light to medium skin types with rather rosy undertones.
Feathery: Great for light to medium, warm skin tones. Thanks to its neutral undertones, it beautifully balances out slight redness.
Just Sheer: Suitable for medium, warm skin tones and those that fall somewhere between warm and cool. Also, if you find a touch of olive in your skin color, this is the right place for you - provided your skin tone isn't too dark.
Subtlety: Has yellow undertones and is perfect for all those for whom Silken is too light. Or for anyone who wears Silken in winter and is looking for a slightly darker shade for summer.
Illusion: A beautiful honey shade, warm and gentle. Don't be fooled by the swatch - the color is not cool! It is perfect for anyone who can score with golden undertones in their skin color.
Velvety: A warm, velvety beige tone for medium to slightly dark skin types with reddish-golden undertones.
Transparent: Matches all medium to darker skin tones. This shade is also rather warm.
Dainty: A little lighter than Transparent. Matches all warm, medium to darker skin tones.
Delicate: Suitable for those with slightly darker skin and has warm, slightly reddish-brown undertones.
Flawless: Slightly lighter than Perfection and significantly darker than Delicate, with cool, slightly pinkish undertones. This makes it ideal for lighter African-American skin tones.
Perfection: Slightly darker than Flawless and with neutral undertones. This makes it ideal for lighter African-American skin tones.
Application
First, moisturize your skin thoroughly. Then apply the foundation with a brush, sponge, or your fingers and blend gently. I am a huge fan of brushes; I find they are the best way to control the intensity of the makeup. You can use the Kjaer Weis Foundation Brush or a Kabuki brush.
